Necessary elements of a great website
A great website is not the one with the most animation. It is the one where a visitor understands who you are, trusts you and knows what to do next within seconds.
1. A hero that says it clearly
A large, responsive hero image or video with one clear headline and one button. Say what you do, for whom, and what happens when they click.
2. Storytelling layout
Guide visitors down the page in a sequence: problem, solution, proof, offer. Each section should answer the question the previous one raised.
3. Mobile-first and fast
- Layouts that adapt from phone to desktop
- Compressed images and lazy loading
- Pages that load in under three seconds
If a visitor has to think about where to click, the design has already failed.
4. Trust signals
Client logos, testimonials, case studies and real contact details. People buy from businesses that look real.
5. Clear calls to action
Use one primary action per screen — call, book or enquire — in a colour that stands out from everything else.
Open your homepage on your phone and ask a friend what the site does. If they hesitate, fix the hero first.
