The Barotac Viejo Solar Power Project is a 166 MWp ground-mounted solar facility integrated with an 80 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), located in Iloilo in the Visayas region of the Philippines. Secured under the country’s Fourth Green Energy Auction (GEA-4), the project represents an investment of approximately PHP 5 billion and will supply renewable electricity to the national grid. The integrated energy storage system will provide additional flexibility to support grid reliability. The project is expected to avoid more than 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually while contributing to local economic development through employment, tax revenues and ER 1-94 community development programmes.
